US, Chinese Presidents Meet On Saturday At G20 Summit Amid Trade Row

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st December, 2018) US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will meet for talk this Saturday on the margins of the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The annual gathering of world leaders, watched for clues on international efforts, is expected to be clouded by an escalating standoff over tit-for-tat import tariffs between the two powers.

Trump warned China this week he could slap duties on an additional $267 billion worth of Chinese goods if he failed to reach a trade deal with Xi during their G20 bilateral.

The two nations have been locked in the trade war since March when Trump imposed tariffs on metal imports from several countries, including US longtime allies.

Tensions rose in May when the US administration said it would levy extra taxes on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods, bringing that figure up to $250 billion over the next few months. China retaliated with tariffs on $110 billion of US imports.
