Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman will meet on December 13 in New Delhi for a session of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on defense industry cooperation, Chief of Russia's General Staff Valery Gerasimov said Thursday.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th November, 2018) Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman will meet on December 13 in New Delhi for a session of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on defense industry cooperation, Chief of Russia's General Staff Valery Gerasimov said Thursday."We also attach great importance to annual meetings of Russian and Iranian defense ministers within the framework of the sessions of the Indian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on defense industry cooperation, and its 18th regular session will be held on December 13 in New Delhi," Gerasimov said at a meeting with Chief of the Indian Naval Staff Sunil Lanba.
According to Gerasimov, Russia and India are strategic partners, a fact that was confirmed after Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India on October 4-5 resulted in numerous bilateral documents in various areas being signed, he noted.
The previous session of the intergovernmental commission was held on June 23, 2017, in Moscow.
Putin paid a working visit to India in early October and met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the talks, a number of issues related to bilateral economic, security and military cooperation, as well as the countries' interaction on multilateral platforms were discussed.
