Russian Military to Probe Aleppo Samples for Toxins After Suspected Chemical Attack

The Russian military said Tuesday it was collecting samples of earth and munition fragments to look for chemical traces after a suspected poison gas attack.

DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th November, 2018) The Russian military said Tuesday it was collecting samples of earth and munition fragments to look for chemical traces after a suspected poison gas attack.

"The sampling complex has been deployed in Aleppo," Gen. Maj. Valery Vasilyev, the head of the Russian military's radiation, chemical and biological protection troops in Syria, told reporters.

The field testing kit, PKhL-2, can identify up to 8,000 chemical compounds. Russia suspects that militants used chlorine in their attack on living quarters in Aleppo.

Between 70 and a hundred people sought medical help last Saturday. Russia responded to the shelling by launching airstrikes on the positions of terrorists it suspects of carrying out the attack.
