Three Ukrainian naval ships on Sunday violated the Russian maritime border and dangerously maneuvered, not responding to legitimate demands to stop. Ships with 24 sailors were detained. After the incident, criminal proceedings were launched for illegally crossing the state border.
"The situation does not need appeasement. Appeasement occurred the day before yesterday, when our border guards appeased violators of the Russian state border. If I am not mistaken, there will be a trial today. That's all appeasement," Peskov said.
He said the fate of the Ukrainian sailors who had violated Russia's state border depended on the court's ruling and not on the Kremlin's position.
