Over 540 Refugees Return to Syria From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Refugee Center

Over 540 refugees have returned to Syria from Lebanon and Jordan over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th November, 2018) Over 540 refugees have returned to Syria from Lebanon and Jordan over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Monday.

"Over the past day, a total of 542 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states, including 117 people (35 women and 59 children) who left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [crossing points], and 425 people (128 women and 217 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.

A total of 211 internally displaced Syrians returned to their homes over the given period.

The center also added that Russia's Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation had distributed a tonne of bread and 80 sets of warm clothes to people in Aleppo.

According to the bulletin, the Syrian army continues to conduct mine clearance operations in the country. The engineering units destroyed 61 explosive devices, including three improvised explosive devices over the past 24 hours.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and terrorist organizations. As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this process, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
