CJP suggests restoring taxes on mobile cards for dam construction

The CJP sought the public opinion about restoring the taxes on mobile cards.

London (Point News – 26th November, 2018) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar is currently in London collecting funds for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams.

While addressing the fund raising event organized by UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the CJP sought the public opinion about restoring the taxes on mobile cards.

Addressing the ceremony, the CJP said that it would not be suitable to impose taxes on people for the construction of dams. However, the withholding tax on mobile cards which was earlier suspended saved Rs 3 billion each month.

The CJP said that if the nation allows, he will again impose tax on prepaid cards to collect money for the construction of dams.

He said that the nation should give its opinion upon this suggestion.
