AL AIN, (Pakistan Point News - 25th Nov, 2018) Al Ain Zoo has awarded the top four winners of its Environmental Creative Story Writing Competition, during a ceremony held at Al Ain Zoo’s Al Maha Royal Lounge. The ceremony was held in the presence of the winners’ families and zoo staff.

The top two winners of the competition for 8-10 years old were Aditi Avadhani, for her story entitled, ’Circle of Life’, and Agam Kaur Kohli, for his story ’Nature on Clock’.

In the 11-14 years age group, Jayanth Ananthakris came in first place for his story ’Banyan Tales’, while Jayanth Ramganesh came in second place for his story ‘The Message of Centuries’.

Omar Yousef Al Blooshi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at Al Ain Zoo, commented on the creative level of the winning stories, which impressed the jury, saying that they showed great environmental awareness for students between the ages of 8 and 14 years.

"Given that this was the first round of the competition, we had a good turnout from students all over the UAE. Through this competition, we aim to promote environmental awareness and involve the community in preserving the environment, which has become disrupted as a result of some unsuitable activities. Therefore, it was necessary for us to take on this role at the zoo in a cultural way that develops the students' expressive and writing skills and, at the same time, promotes their environmental awareness," said Al Blooshi.

The winners received awards from Al Ain Zoo, which included a trophy, Al Ain Safari tickets and a certificate of appreciation, along with other souvenirs. In an effort to promote the importance of writing and environmental awareness amongst the young generation, Al Ain Zoo will select and publish the best 12 stories over the course of a year in their "ZooLife" monthly printed and digital magazine.

Al Ain Zoo launched the Environmental Creative Story Writing Competition for Children, in both Arabic and English, during its first Environmental Forum last March. The writing requirements were established by the competition committee, all of which are aimed towards the fields of the environment, animal care and wildlife conservation.
