Khadim Rizvi taken in protective custody under MPO

95 people, including Khadim Rizvi, have been arrested and the detained persons will remain in jail for 30 days.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 24th November, 2018) Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Rizvi has been taken in protective custody under section 14 and 16 Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO).

A notification in this regard has also been issued.

According to the notification, 95 people, including Khadim Rizvi, have been arrested and the detained persons will remain in jail for 30 days.

Section 14 of Punjab’s Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960, deals with abetment of offences, while section 16 is regarding the dissemination of rumours that can cause fear or alarm in the public.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had also tweeted that Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been taken into protective custody by police and shifted to a guest house.

“They insisted to come to Rawalpindi refusing government’s proposal for alternative arrangements. It’s to safeguard public life, property and order and has to do nothing with Asia Bibi case,” his tweet added.

In another tweet, the minister said that the government did its best to convince them but they refused every offer and started to provoke violence.

“Public is requested to stay peaceful and calm. State is responsible to defend finality and respect of Holy Prophet PBUH. Law shall take its course and it cannot be left to individuals,” he added.
