Death toll rises to 7 in attack on Chinese consulate

A father and a son, who had come to the consulate from Quetta to get their visa, were also killed in the attack.

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 23rd November, 2018) The death toll in the attack on Chinese consulate has reached to seven.

Dr Seemi Jamali said that six people were brought to the hospital out of which five breathed their last before reaching the hospital.

She said that the five dead persons have been identified, aging between 35 to 60 years. An injured Jaman Khan is under treatment in the hospital.

The doctor said that two persons, aged 35, and two people, aged 35 and 45, were brought to hospital in a dead condition. The dead include a 25-year-old person as well who has not been identified yet.

At least two policemen were earlier killed in an explosion and firing outside the Chinese consulate in Karachi's Clifton Block 4 at around 9:30am on Friday.

Three to four men attempted to enter the Chinese consulate and fired shots before being stopped by security guards.

The security forces deployed outside the Chinese consulate retaliated to the firing and killed all the terrorists in the clearance operation.

Karachi police chief told media that the terrorists had explosive belts and weapons with them.

All the employees of the consulate remained safe in the attack.

The Balochistan Liberation Army, a separatist group in Balochistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
