MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) Russia and Armenia signed on Thursday an agreement on creation and activity of an international bureau of aviation accidents and serious incidents investigation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), a Sputnik correspondent, present at the signing ceremony, reported.

Russian Transport Minister Yevgeny Dietrich and Akop Arshakyan, acting Armenian minister of transport, communications and information technologies, signed the document.

Within this agreement, the signatories will exchange information on accidents and incidents with the International Civil Aviation Organization. Investigative commissions will be provided with necessary equipment, while accident investigators will undergo training. Recommendations on flights safety will be issued, and the agreement will promote efficient use of technical and financial resources for accidents and incidents investigation.

In mid-October, the Russian government approved a draft agreement on creation of an international body for the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents within the EAEU.

Currently, the Moscow-based Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) is investigating aviation accidents that occur on the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States, while Russia is supposed to withdraw from the IAC after the international bureau is created.
