Over 1,000 Syrians Return Home From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Defense Ministry

More than 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) More than 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, a total of 1,021 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 116 people (35 women and 59 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 905 people (272 women and 462 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.

In addition, 236 internally displaced Syrians returned to the places of their permanent residence in Syria over the past 24 hours, according to the bulletin. Over the past day, no refugees have left the Idlib de-escalation zone.

According to the center, Syrian sappers continued their mine clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have cleared 10 hectares (24.7 acres) of territory, nine buildings and two kilometers (1.24 miles) of roads in the Syrian provinces of Homs, Damascus and Quneitra. They have also found and defused 50 explosive devices, including three improvised explosive devices, the center added.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this process, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
