WARSAW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th November, 2018) Poland's PGNiG state-owned oil and gas company and the US Cheniere Marketing International company signed a 24-year contract for supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, a Sputnik correspondent reported Thursday.

The signing took place in the presence of US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry and Polish President Andrzej Duda.

PGNiG said in a press release that in 2019-2022, Poland would receive some 0.52 million tonnes of LNG annually, and in 2023-2042, it would get 1.45 million tonnes a year. After regasification, these amounts will equal 0.7 billion cubic meters, and 1.95 billion cubic meters, respectively.

Duda said that the delivery of LNG to Poland was lobbied personally by the US President Donald Trump. He added that Poland would develop the capacity of the regasification terminal in Swinoujscie.

In turn, Perry said that diversification of energy sources was a source of development of the Polish economy.

In October, PGNiG and American Venture Global LNG signed a 20-year contract for the supply of 2 million tonnes of LNG per year to Poland.
