Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the high level at which the relationship between Russia and South Korea currently stood in a message to the participants of the First Russian-Korean Forum for Interregional Cooperation, published on the Kremlin's website on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the high level at which the relationship between Russia and South Korea currently stood in a message to the participants of the First Russian-Korean Forum for Interregional Cooperation, published on the Kremlin's website on Thursday.

"Relations between our countries have advanced to a very high level. We maintain an intensive political dialogue and fruitful cooperation in many areas," Putin said.

Putin also noted the growing role of regional communication in bilateral regional development.

"Many Russian regions, primarily in the Russian Far East, maintain direct ties with South Korean provinces and cities and are implementing joint projects in trade, investment, healthcare, tourism, fishing and agriculture. This partnership is undoubtedly promoting the economic, infrastructural and social development in our countries' regions and strengthening the mutual understanding and trust between our nations," he said.

The forum began in the South Korean city of Pohang on November 7. It brings together representatives of government, business and expert communities from different areas of Russia and South Korea in order to enhance regional ties. It is attended by representatives of nine subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia and 17 regions of South Korea.

The decision to hold the Russian-Korean Interregional Forum was made during the negotiations between Vladimir Putin and South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Vladivostok in September 2017.
