Speakers of Turkish, Russian Parliaments Set to Meet Twice a Year - Turkish Official

Turkey and Russia plan to organize meetings of the two countries' parliamentary speakers twice a year as part of their efforts to enhance the inter-parliamentary relations, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Volkan Bozkir said on Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th November, 2018) Turkey and Russia plan to organize meetings of the two countries' parliamentary speakers twice a year as part of their efforts to enhance the inter-parliamentary relations, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Volkan Bozkir said on Thursday.

"Given the excellent relations between Russia and Turkey, we need to work on strengthening inter-parliamentary ties. We plan to organize meetings of our parliaments' speakers twice a year. They will be accompanied by 10-member delegations," Bozkir said at a joint meeting of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs and the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish parliament.

According to the official, Konstantin Kosachev, the Russian upper house's International Affairs Committee head and Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the Russian lower chamber's Foreign Affairs Committee, will coordinate the work of this mechanism.
