Russia's Reanimated Glonass-M Satellite Decommissioned - Research Center

The Glonass-M satellite number 734, reanimated after April's disruptions, has been put out of operation, the Russian Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIImash) said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th November, 2018) The Glonass-M satellite number 734, reanimated after April's disruptions, has been put out of operation, the Russian Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIImash) said on Tuesday.

"According to the Glonass Control System, all works of the Glonass-M 734 have been stopped. The satellite was removed from the Glonass orbital group," TsNIImash said in a statement.

On April 19, Glonass-M satellite number 734 stopped broadcasting a navigation signal. The satellite has been on orbit for nine years with a guaranteed life span of seven years. Director General of Russia's Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (ISS-Reshetnev) Nikolay Testoyedov told Sputnik on May 17 that the satellite was revived.

There are currently 26 satellites, excluding the reanimated one, in the system.
