Kiev Plotting Provocation With Chemicals in Donbas to Thwart Upcoming Election - DPR

The Ukrainian armed forces are plotting a provocation with the use of chemical weapons in Donbas to thwart the upcoming elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Daniil Bezsonov, the spokesman for the DPR operational command, said on Monday

DONETSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th November, 2018) The Ukrainian armed forces are plotting a provocation with the use of chemical weapons in Donbas to thwart the upcoming elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Daniil Bezsonov, the spokesman for the DPR operational command, said on Monday.

On October 30, Bezsonov said that NATO advisers and representatives of foreign private military companies arrived in Donbas, purportedly for planning terrorist attacks and provocations on the contact line to disrupt the November 11 elections.

"Our intelligence has uncovered preparations by the Ukrainian special services of a large-scale provocation with the use of chemical toxic substances against the civilian population of Donbas," Bezsonov said.

According to Bezsonov, the Ukrainian troops stationed close to the settlements of Donbas "are being urgently provided with radiochemical and biological protection equipment."

"These actions [the suspected provocation] are aimed at discrediting the leadership of the republic and disrupting the upcoming elections. We appeal to the world community to prevent these crimes," he added.

The elections of the heads and members of the parliaments of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk are scheduled for November 11. The Ukrainian authorities have already stated that they would not recognize the elections' results. The United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden also condemned the upcoming elections.
