Department of Urban Planning visits Emirati-Jordanian refugee camp

AMMAN, (Pakistan Point News - 04th Nov, 2018) A delegation from the Abu Dhabi Department of Urban Planning recently visited the Emirati-Jordanian camp in Muraijeb Al Fhood in Al Zarqa Governorate, Jordan.

The visit is part of the department’s 'International Community Initiative', which aims to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism that the UAE is known for, since its establishment by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Mohammed Mubarak Al Mansouri, Director of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, Camp in Jordan, delivered a presentation about the camp, as well as the services provided by the ERC to Syrian refugees across various camps in Jordan. He also showcased a film about the camp’s objectives, its phases of development, and the humanitarian role of the ERC in supporting Syrian refugees and their families.

During the delegation’s meeting with Al Mansouri and the camp’s ERC team, Al Shamsi said that the visit aims to promote consultations between the refugee camp and the department’s engineering team, provide technical support and development ideas, inspect the camp's services and facilities, and assess the situation of Syrian refugees.

He also praised the UAE’s leading role in providing humanitarian aid to those affected by disasters around the world, as well as the ERC’s local and international humanitarian efforts.
