Chinese President Xi Calls Relations With Pakistan Priority for Beijing's Foreign Policy

The development of relations with Pakistan is a priority for China's foreign policy, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd November, 2018) The development of relations with Pakistan is a priority for China's foreign policy, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"China has always viewed Pakistan as a priority for its foreign policy, supports independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan," Xi said, as quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The Chinese leader has also expressed the country's readiness to boost bilateral cooperation and partnership with Pakistan as well as to intensify joint efforts in the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other multilateral platforms.

Khan pointed out that China was a strategic partner of Pakistan and is viewed as a friend by the Pakistanis.

The prime minister has also vowed to deepen cooperation with China as well as to promote construction of the Chinese-Pakistani economic corridor.

Khan arrived in China for an official visit, as part of which he will also attend the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2018 that will be held in the city of Shanghai on November 5-10.
