The Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre, EMAC, has announced that it took part in the UAE Maritime Week, starting with the Dubai Maritime Summit and closing with a presentation by GCC representatives on ‘The evolution of maritime regulations and arbitration in the GCC’.
DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 01st Nov, 2018) The Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre, EMAC, has announced that it took part in the UAE Maritime Week, starting with the Dubai Maritime Summit and closing with a presentation by GCC representatives on ‘The evolution of maritime regulations and arbitration in the GCC’.
"As EMAC celebrates its second operational anniversary, we are proud of the contribution we make at conferences like this, where we can really explain how far we have come in establishing ourselves as a preferred maritime arbitration centre," said Majid Obaid bin Bashir, Acting Chairman and Secretary-General of EMAC.
The EMAC discussion held on Wednesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre, brought together maritime executives from each GCC state to discuss advancements in the development of various ports, environmental regulations as well as crew protection rights. Amongst the speakers were, Ahmed Al Najem, Secretary-General of the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre, Capt. Abdulla Darwish Al Hayyas, Director of Maritime Transport Affairs, FTA; Mahmood Alaraibi, Senior Associate, Al Tamimi & Co.; Dr. Rashid bin Mohamed Al-Kiyumi, Director-General of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Oman; Rizwan Osman, Legal Director, Clyde & Co. and Ali Sehab Ahmed, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company.
Updates about maritime arbitration and its role in the region was addressed by Rania Tadros, Managing Partner of Ince & Co, Dubai, with the commercial aspect of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) covered by Capt. Jitendra Misra, Managing Director, Emarat Maritime and EMAC board of Trustees, and the role of EMAC’s arbitration and mediation as discussed by Jyothi Mani, Case Manager, EMAC.
"We are pleased to host this panel and facilitate dialogues with our stakeholders. Our goal is to encourage stakeholders to adopt the EMAC model arbitration or mediation clause into their contracts," continued bin Bashir.
EMAC will kick off Dubai Arbitration Week on 11th November, followed by a hosted panel discussion as ADIPEC commences on 12 November, 2018 in Abu Dhabi.
