Putin Says Signed Russian Migration Policy Road Map For 2019-2025

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st October, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he had signed a migration policy road map for 2019-2025 aimed, in particular, at creating favorable conditions for Russians resigning abroad return to the country.

"Today, I have signed a new version of the state migration policy road map. It is aimed, among other things, at creating the most favorable conditions for our compatriots' permanent resettlement to Russia from abroad and also at creating clear regulations on entry and procurement of rights for residence, for work and for Russian citizenship acquisition," Putin said addressing the VI World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad, which is currently underway in Moscow.

The Russian state migration policy road map for 2019-2025 sets key directions of work on creating favorable conditions for the adaptation of foreigners' arriving in Russia. The road map stipulates the necessity to create institutions and mechanisms for the foreigners' social and cultural adaptation, which would take into consideration their age, profession, nationality, and culture, as well as the lifestyles of Russian citizens living in different regions of the country.

The road map stresses out the necessity of taking measures preventing segregation, creation of ethnic enclaves and marginalization of foreigners living in Russia. Steps to be taken include issuing identification documents for those who do not have any. Under the road map, foreigners should have equal opportunities to receive state services related to the migration sphere regardless of their migration status, income level and other circumstances.

While over two millions of Russians are registered with consular departments of Russian embassies abroad, over one million of foreign citizens reside in Russia permanently or temporarily.
