US Charges Chinese Hackers In 5-Year Effort To Steal Jet Engine Technology - Justice Dept.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st October, 2018) Chinese intelligence officials and a team of hackers have been indicted for a 5-year campaign to steal technology from US and French aerospace companies that developed a turbofan jet engine that is used by US and European commercial airlines, the Department of Justice announced in a press release on Tuesday.

"From at least January 2010 to May 2015, JSSD [Jiangsu Province Ministry of State Security] intelligence officers and their team of hackers, including� Zhang Zhang-Gui, Liu Chunliang, Gao Hong Kun, Zhuang Xiaowei, and Ma Zhiqi, focused on the theft of technology underlying a turbofan engine used in US and European commercial airliners," the release said. "At the time of the intrusions, a Chinese state-owned aerospace company was working to develop a comparable engine for use in commercial aircraft manufactured in China and elsewhere. "
