US-Led Forces Conduct 188 Strikes Against Islamic State in Syria, Iraq - Joint Task Force

The US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS, outlawed in Russia) terrorist group in Iraq and Syria carried out 188 strikes last week, Coalition Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th October, 2018) The US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS, outlawed in Russia) terrorist group in Iraq and Syria carried out 188 strikes last week, Coalition Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a press release on Tuesday.

"Between Oct. 21 and Oct. 27, CJTF-OIR coalition military forces conducted 188 strikes consisting of 293 engagements in Iraq and Syria," the release said.

The coalition conducted 184 strikes in Syria near Hajin and al Bukamal, destorying a command and control center, supply routes, weapons caches, fighting positions and engaged tactical units, among others, the release said.

In Iraq, US-led forces carried out four strikes near Kirkuk, Anbar and Tal Afar, destroying caves, tunnels and a bunker, the release added.

The US-led coalition of more than 70 countries is conducting military operations against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. The coalition's operations in Iraq are conducted in cooperation with the Iraqi government, but those in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the United Nations Security Council.
