Launch of KhalifaSat leading national achievement: ITU Plenipotentiary Conference

Officials and experts participating in the International Telecommunication Union, ITU, Plenipotentiary Conference, which started today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, stated that the launch of the "KhalifaSat" is a leading national achievement that can be added to the UAE’s track record of achievements, and reflects the country’s efforts to achieve overall global leadership.

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 30th Oct, 2018) Officials and experts participating in the International Telecommunication Union, ITU, Plenipotentiary Conference, which started today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, stated that the launch of the "KhalifaSat" is a leading national achievement that can be added to the UAE’s track record of achievements, and reflects the country’s efforts to achieve overall global leadership.

In their statements to the Emirates news Agency, WAM, they congratulated the UAE’s leadership and people on the launch of the first Emirati-made satellite, which is an achievement for all Arab countries.

Houlin Zhao, Secretary-General of the ITU, congratulated the UAE on the launch of the satellite, which, he said, reflects its efforts to achieve overall development. He also thanked the UAE for hosting and chairing the conference.

Tarik Al Awadhi, Head of the Arab Group at the Conference, expressed his happiness at the launch of the conference, which coincided with the launch of KhalifaSat while pointing out that the satellite highlights the support of the UAE’s wise leadership for the Emirati people and their efforts to encourage overall innovation.

He added that the conference is the ITU’s leading event that discusses the general policies of the sector, approves the union’s budget for the next four years and its strategic and financial plans, and elect the ITU’s board members.

Such global conferences help to promote the country’s international position and achieve the goals of the national agenda of the UAE Vision 2021, Al Awadhi said in conclusion.
