MOCD to launch speech-language therapy diploma

The Ministry of Community Development, MOCD, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Centre in Ajman University, will implement an intensive training course for specialists and teachers, who are working in the Ministry's People of Determination Centres, as part of its vision to achieve the goals and objectives of the national policy for such persons.

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 29th Oct, 2018) The Ministry of Community Development, MOCD, in cooperation with the Continuing education Centre in Ajman University, will implement an intensive training course for specialists and teachers, who are working in the Ministry's People of Determination Centres, as part of its vision to achieve the goals and objectives of the national policy for such persons.

The six-month 'Speech Language Therapy Diploma' will include theoretical and practical topics in the field of speech and language disorders for autism spectrum; intellectual disabilities and developmental delay. The diploma will enable the participants to obtain a qualified degree as an assistant for the speech language therapist.

Commenting on the announcement, Nasser Ismail, Assistant Under-Secretary for Community Care Sector at MOCD said, that the importance of the course stems from the fact that it is a scientific theoretical and training programme that refines the knowledge and practical experiences of specialists and teachers, and puts them at the crossroads of a solid ground to work, accomplish and empower students among people of determination.

He reiterated that the participants will be awarded a diploma certificate after the successful completion of the programme.

Dr. Khaled Asselah, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in Ajman University, said that the diploma will definitely enrich the participants with the required skills to achieve national goals that would serve persons with disabilities.
