Turkish Forces 'Neutralize' 20 Militants Across Country Over Past Week - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th October, 2018) The Turkish forces have killed, captured or forced to surrender 20 militants in the course of counterterrorism operations held across Turkey over the past week, local media reported Monday, citing the Turkish Interior Ministry.

A total of 186 people were arrested for their support for the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey, while 67 others were taken into custody for suspected links to the Islamic State terrorist group (outlawed in Russia and Turkey), according to the Anadolu news agency.

Another 478 people were reportedly arrested over their links to Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen's movement, referred to by Ankara as the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and accused of organizing the attempted coup of 2016. Moreover, 26 people were detained for their suspected links to far-left groups, the media outlet added.

In addition, 16 heavy weapons, 25 hand grenades, 54 kilograms (119 Pounds) of explosive material as well as 783 pieces of ammunition were also seized during the raids.
