VIENNA, (Pakistan Point News - 28th Oct, 2018) The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has emphasised the importance of preventing the financing of terrorism as one of the most important means to combat it.
UNODC has stressed the importance of assisting Member States in using the legal, operational and technical frameworks necessary to stop the financing of terrorism.
The statement of the UNODC, headquartered in Vienna, indicated that it provides support to Member States and training cadres on the legal and operational frameworks and technical expertise required to stop the financing of terrorism.
The statement revealed that the UNODC has concluded a training course in Cairo to help Member States reduce the threats associated with terrorist financing and to explain how the Security Council sanctions can be used to stop financial flows to the terrorists.
The UN office referred that the event brought together experts from financial intelligence units, intelligence agencies, law enforcement agencies, ministries of foreign affairs, central banks, prosecutors and other related entities.
