Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday expressed condolences to Jordan's King Abdullah II after raging floodwaters swept away a school bus full of children, according to Putin's letter published on the Kremlin website.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th October, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday expressed condolences to Jordan's King Abdullah II after raging floodwaters swept away a school bus full of children, according to Putin's letter published on the Kremlin website.

On Thursday, a school bus carrying 37 students and seven staff members from a Jordanian private school and traveling to the Zara Maeen hot springs area was washed away near the Dead Sea. According to latest media reports, at least 20 people were killed and many others injured.

"Your Majesty, please accept my deepest condolences over the death of passengers on the tour bus as a result of the tragic accident on the Dead Sea coast. It is especially sad that most of the victims of this disaster were children," the statement reads.

The president also conveyed words of sympathy and support to the families of the victims as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured.
