Over 360 Refugees Returned to Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

Over 360 people returned to Syria over the past 24 hours, including 106 refugees who came back to the country from Lebanon, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said in its daily bulletin on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th October, 2018) Over 360 people returned to Syria over the past 24 hours, including 106 refugees who came back to the country from Lebanon, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said in its daily bulletin on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, in total 362 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 106 people (32 women and 54 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], 256 people (77 women and 131 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the statement said.

According to the statement, as many as 442 people returned back to the places of permanent residence across Syria in the corresponding period.

At least two humanitarian actions have been carried out by Russia's Kadyrov Regional Public Fund in the Syrian province of Aleppo over the past 24 hours. Thus, the residents of the settlement of Djuva Avad received a tonne of bread, while in the districts of Shayban-Pasha, Sheykh-Fars, al-Qasidiyah, Sheykh Hoder, al-Sahur food and hygiene sets were handed over to the families of 15 killed Syrian servicemen.

In addition, Russian military medics provided 312 people, including 121 children, with medical assistance in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Idlib.

According to the ministry, the engineering units proceed with mine clearance works, with at least 37 explosive devices having been defused over the past 24 hours.

"The SAA engineering units carry on the mine clearance operation in the settlements of Sam Ali, Tall Ameri, Al-Rastan (Homs province), al-Zelaf (Damascus province), Oufaniya, Shuakatliyah, Hader, al-Othmaniyah and Qsaiba (al-Quneitra province). 9 ha of the territory, 9 buildings and 2km [1.2 miles] of roads," the bulletin added.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
