Bolton Refutes Moscow's Claims Qualifying US INF Withdrawal Announcement as Blackmail

US National Security Adviser John Bolton refuted on Monday Moscow's allegations that Washington announced its plans to withdraw from the US-Russian Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) to blackmail Russia.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd October, 2018) US National Security Adviser John Bolton refuted on Monday Moscow's allegations that Washington announced its plans to withdraw from the US-Russian Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) to blackmail Russia.

Bolton told the Russian Kommersant newspaper that this was not true, specifying that these were Russia's violations of the treaty that brought the situation to its current stage.

He added that Russia had been violating the INF treaty for at least five years.

Bolton went on to say that the United States would not tolerate Russia's violations of the INF treaty, without having any opportunity to provide an adequate response.

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Washington would leave the INF Treaty accusing Russia of violating its terms. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov rejected the accusations, stressing that the scrapping of the INF agreement would force Russia to take measures ensuring its security.
