BEIRUT, (Pakistan Point News - 17th Oct, 2018) Hamad Saeed Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon, today opened the Arab Organisation for Translation Office in Beirut, following its renovation.

Equipment for the office was provided by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, to ensure it completes its message to accurately transfer knowledge, human thought and develop the Arabic language.

This project comes as an affirmation of the importance of the Arabic language and its role, and the message which the UAE is trying to dedicate with the aim of preserving the characteristics and entity of the language.

Ambassador Al Shamsi said the Arabic language is a major tool for strengthening the national identity of the coming generations, because it is the best means of expressing Arab history, heritage and culture, noting that this project is consistent with the initiatives launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to establish the meaning of the language and strengthen its stature in the community.

He noted that His Highness is extremely careful to adopt projects which carry to the world messages of love, peace and security, considering it a bridge connecting Arabs to their roots and the main road to ensure the vision of the future.

He added that supporting the knowledge and culture centres, and preserving them, is a national responsibility not limited to one country, but includes all people, as well as the UAE’s educational and scientific vision, as it realises the importance of combatting ignorance, illiteracy and extremism through the use of science.

Dr. Haitham Al Nahi, Director General of the Arab Organisation for Translation, praised this scientific step, which strengthens the stature of translation, considering it a pillar of advancement, and contributes in stimulating the demand for translated books and putting in placing plans to elevate the Arabic language, especially the translated works.

He also praised the role of the UAE and its wise leadership, which supports the educational and scientific sector and strives with unparalleled wisdom to preserve Arab heritage and the Arabic language.

He further said that the UAE was in the forefront of support in this field by translating 50 books, in carrying out the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who encourages scientific organisations and provides the fundamentals of sustainability for them.

He added that the organisation has published, since its establishment, 310 books, which it considered essential books that promote Arab knowledge, having been translated from many languages, including English, French, German, Italian and Hebrew.
