German Prosecutor General Says Suspected IS Member Arrested at Cologne Airport

German Public Prosecutor General authorized the arrest of a 46-year-old German citizen suspected of being a member of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) upon her arrival at the Cologne Bonn airport, the prosecutor's press service said on Wednesday.

BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th October, 2018) German Public Prosecutor General authorized the arrest of a 46-year-old German citizen suspected of being a member of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) upon her arrival at the Cologne Bonn airport, the prosecutor's press service said on Wednesday.

"The accused was presented today to the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice, who ... ordered pre-trial detention," the statement read.

According to the investigation, Mine K. joined IS ranks in late 2014. In January 2015, she married an IS militant who was at that time in Turkey via a video call. In February 2015, the woman left Germany for Turkey, and then moved to Syria. In June 2015, the spouses moved to an apartment provided by IS terrorists, and then to a house which the terrorists had seized from local residents. After her husband was killed in battles with the Syrian army, the suspect returned to Mosul, and then went to Raqqa. In October 2016, she left Syria for Turkey.
