MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces expects that the Pakistani authorities will make effort toward releasing the Iranian police officers who were kidnapped at the Pakistani border, local media reported on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, reports emerged that 14 Iranian security officers, including several IRGC members, had been kidnapped by a militant group in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, at the Iranian-Pakistani border.

The Tasnim news agency reported that the IRGC expected the Pakistani government to seriously counterattack terrorists who have settled down at the Pakistani borders, claiming that they received support from certain countries of the region and were being used by these countries.

The IRGC has called on the Pakistani authorities to promptly make steps toward release and transfer of the Iranian border guards.

Jaish a-Adl (Army of Justice) Sunni terror organization has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, with its spokesman saying that this was a response to Iranian government's oppression against Sunnis based in Sistan and Baluchestan. However, the spokesman said that Jaish a-Adl had kidnapped 10 persons.

Sistan and Baluchestan has long been shaken by ethnic and religious clashes, as well as by clashes between local security staff and militant groups.
