Shehbaz Sharif's physical remand extended for 14 days

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested the Accountability Court to extend the remand

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 16th October, 2018) The physical remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif has been extended for 14 more days.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested the Accountability Court to extend Shehbaz Sharif's remand in the Ashiana Housing scam.

Shehbaz Sharif appeared before the court as it reserved the verdict on extending his physical remand. Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion.

Speaking before the court, the former Punjab chief minister said that he served the province, yet he has to face such allegations.

He said that he had only directed his people to complete the projects quickly. I myself sent the matter to anti corruption unit.

After hearing the arguments, the court reserved the verdict and finally extended his physical remand for ten more days.

His counsel argued that Shehbaz is not accused of corruption and there's no need to extend the remand.

Earlier, the Accountability Court had on Oct 6 handed over Opposition leader in National Assembly Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to NAB on 14-day physical remand in Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing project scam.

Shehbaz was allegedly involved in corruption of Rs 14 billion Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme and Rs 4 billion Punjab Saaf Pani Company scams. He had previously appeared before NAB on a couple of occasions in both the cases and recorded his statement.
