Saudi King Thanks Erdogan For Support In Probe Into Khashoggi's Vanishing - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th October, 2018) Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday for his support for forming a joint working group to probe the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported.

On Thursday, Turkish Presidential Aide Ibrahim Kalin said that there was an agreement with Saudi authorities on the formation of the joint working group regarding the case.

The king also stressed that that no one would be able to undermine close ties between the two countries, according to the media.

Khashoggi, who has been working for The Washington Post newspaper and has been known for his criticism of Saudi authorities, went missing in Turkey on October 2. According to his fiancee, Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate in the Turkish city of Istanbul and never came out.

The Washington Post reported on Friday that the Turkish authorities had shared with the United States audio and video recordings suggesting the journalist had been murdered in the Saudi consulate.

Saudi Arabia denied any involvement in the disappearance of Khashoggi, saying that the journalist had left the consulate.
