The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has recently concluded its ‘2018 Back to School Programme’, with more than 3,600 students reaped the benefits of the programme.
ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 12th Oct, 2018) The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has recently concluded its ‘2018 Back to School Programme’, with more than 3,600 students reaped the benefits of the programme.
The programme, which was hosted by Abu Dhabi public libraries under the theme ‘Let's Prepare for a Splendid Year’, aimed at encouraging students to expand their knowledge base through reading during the school year, while also providing interactive learning experiences that promoted creativity and innovation.
Events hosted by Al Wathba Library, Al Marfa Library, Mazyad Mall Library, Al Bahia library Khalifa Park Library and Al Ain’s Zayed Central Library saw a huge turnout of children and mothers.
The programme was designed to meet the students’ needs and talents, and ease their return to school after the summer break. It also provided a friendly space for first-time students to meet older children, helping them overcome the stress of starting school.
The 2018 programme featured a series of interactive activities, empowering children to unleash and develop their talents. Appealing to many children, these activities included reading silent picture stories to people of determination, ‘My Health in my Body’, ‘My Narrating Shirt’, teaching public speaking and leadership skills and Arabic language mastery, ‘The Safety of our Students is our Collective Responsibility’, ‘You Reap What You Sow’ workshop, and many others.
DCT Abu Dhabi’s Library Management Department organised a workshop entitled ‘Smart Eating Choices’, featuring a nutritionist from SEHA’s Mafraq Hospital, who engaged C1 students across Dar Al Kutub (the National Library) libraries in Abu Dhabi. The workshop helped raise awareness amongst children about the importance of healthy nutrition, encouraging them to follow a healthy lifestyle.
As part of the programme, the Kalima Translation Project hosted its own back-to-school exhibition across key branches of the Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society from September 1st to 22nd. Featuring books translated from over 30 languages, the exhibition showcased Kalima’s flagship publications, offering discounts of up to 40%, with special focus on children's literature and educational and developmental books, which complement the UAE curricula.
