PML-N supporters hold Donkey King posters during protest

The PML-N had given a protest call at Parliament today.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 11th October, 2018) The protest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) against the arrest of party president Shehbaz Sharif has entered second day.

Terming Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest as political victimisation, the PML-N supporters had held the posters of Donkey King, a recently released Pakistani animated movie.

After protesting in the stairs of Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, the PML-N had given a protest call at Parliament today.

The PML-N had invited the opposition parties to join the protest as well but the members of Pakistan People’s Party did not join them.

The National Assembly secretariat on Wednesday issued production orders for Shehbaz Sharif.

According to production orders, Shehbaz Sharif will be allowed to attend the National Assembly sessions.

An Accountability Court had on Oct 6 handed over Opposition leader in National Assembly Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on ten-day physical remand in Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing project scam.

NAB prosecutor argued that Shehbaz Sharif misused his authority as chief minister Punjab. He submitted that the contract for the housing project was won by the construction company 'Chaudhry Latif and Sons', which was cancelled by the former Punjab chief minister and his aides, and awarded to a favourite one--Lahore Casa Developers.

The NAB arrested Shehbaz Sharif on Friday after he appeared before a combined investigation team in the Saaf Pani corruption case at the accountability watchdog's Lahore office.

Shehbaz was allegedly involved in corruption of Rs 14 billion Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme and Rs 4 billion Punjab Saaf Pani Company scams. He had previously appeared before NAB on a couple of occasions in both the cases and recorded his statement.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that the government had nothing to do with Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif's arrest.
