Russia has no intentions to legitimize the Lugar Public Health Research Center in Georgia by attending the international exercises there in November, as the activities of the laboratory need to be studied and clarified separately, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said Wednesday.
GENEVA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th October, 2018) Russia has no intentions to legitimize the Lugar Public Health Research Center in Georgia by attending the international exercises there in November, as the activities of the laboratory need to be studied and clarified separately, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said Wednesday.
"We had quite a long and heated discussion the subject of the so-called Lugar bio laboratory, which is located in Georgia and poses a real danger because no one understands what is being researched or manufactured there, and why," Karasin told reporters following a new round of Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the South Caucasus.
Karasin said that Russia had been invited at the UN level to attend international exercises at the Lugar Center in mid-November.
"But we do not want to participate in any exercises that would legitimize this laboratory. Because, of course, it is impossible to understand what one or another laboratory is working on during a single visit. There are different levels of allowed access. It is not clear which departments the international experts will be allowed to visit," he stressed.
