MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th October, 2018) At least 11 people died in the Carribean island nation of Haiti after a major quake hit off its northwestern coast, local media said Sunday.
Eddy Jackson Alexis, the Haitian secretary of state in charge of communications, said the death toll was confirmed as of 11 p.m. Saturday, according to The Nouvelliste newspaper.
Hundreds more were reportedly injured in the 5.9-magnitude quake that struck off the city of Port-de-Paix. It lied at the depth of more than 7 miles, the US Geological Survey said.
