US Awards Lockheed Martin $390Mln For 360 Air-to-Surface Missiles - Pentagon

(Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th October, 2018) Defense giant Lockheed Martin won more than $390 million to develop 360 air-to-surface cruise missiles for the US military and three unnamed foreign countries, the Defense Department said in a press release.

"Lockheed Martin Corp., Orlando, Florida, has been awarded a $390,792,959... contract for Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) lot 16 production for 360 JASSM-extended range," the release said on Friday.

The order involves three foreign military sales and also calls for separation vehicles, tooling and test equipment, according to the release.

The JASSM is a low observable standoff air-launched US cruise missile. It is a large, stealthy long-range weapon with a 1,000 pound armor piercing warhead that entered service in 2009.
