Maltese President praises UAE women's empowerment strategy

President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, has commended the efforts made by the UAE government in ensuring women's empowerment and childcare as well as the support provided for victims of violence and human trafficking.

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 03rd Oct, 2018) President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, has commended the efforts made by the UAE government in ensuring women's empowerment and childcare as well as the support provided for victims of violence and human trafficking.

She made the statements while visiting the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) today to learn about the efforts of providing care and protection for women and children in the UAE and the role of civil society organisations in this field.

Afra Al Basti, DFWAC Director-General, received the President of Malta and her accompanying delegation, who were shown around the Foundation's facilities and care and rehabilitation services offered to victims of violence and human trafficking.

The President of Malta discussed with Al Basti a number of humanitarian and social issues of common interest, including human trafficking, violence against women and children, and the international efforts in this field.

President Louise praised the efforts of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, and its services offered to the victims of violence and human trafficking, and the efforts of the UAE in general, stressing on the importance of supporting such efforts to provide care for children and empower women around the world to build safe and stable societies and a better future for current and next generations.

Al Basti said that the Foundation is honoured by the visit of the President of Malta, and highly appreciated her interest in community issues, especially in providing protection and care for women and children, as well as her prominent role in promoting efforts at the international level in this area.

President Louis's visit to the Foundation included a tour to the Children's Villa, care and rehabilitation building, as well as the 800111 helpline call center, vocational rehabilitation workshops and DFWAC’s main hostel, where she praised the quality of services provided by the Foundation.

The President of Malta was accompanied during the visit, by a high-level delegation, including a number of ministers and senior officials. the visit was also attended by Ahmed Mohammed Al-Jarwan, member of the Federal National Council, President of the World Council for Tolerance and Peace, Shaikha Al Mansouri, Deputy Director General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, and a number of the Foundation's top officials.
