See newspapers, we have fully responded to Rana Mashhood’s statement: Shehbaz Sharif

Says the statement was irresponsible and he will issue him a show cause on the matter.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 3rd October, 2018) Responding to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Rana Mashhood’s statements, party president and former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he has fully responded to his statements.

Shehbaz Sharif appeared before the Accountability Court today. On the occasion, a journalist asked the PML-N president about his views on the statements made by Rana Mashhood.

To this, Shehbaz Sharif said, “You can see the newspapers. We have given complete response to Rana Mashhood’s statements.”

He said that the statement was irresponsible and he will issue him a show cause on the matter.

In a rather startling statement, PML-N leader and former provincial education minister Rana Mashhood said on Tuesday that he sees the situation changing in Pakistan in the next few months.

Mashhood was alluding to the provincial government changing hands from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the PML-N.

“PTI in Punjab holds a small majority. Everyone knows how this majority was secured. The people [independent MPAs] who helped in securing this majority have told me that false promises were made and they are now having a change of heart,” the PML-N leader said.

“In my opinion, the next 2-2.5 months are very important as the results of the by-elections will also be in. The impact of their [PTI] policies will also be apparent.”

The PML-N leader also stated that there was a widespread sentiment that Shehbaz Sharif was the better choice. “He Shehbaz Sharif would have performed much better in these circumstances if he was the prime minister,” Mashood had said.

He then appeared to say that Shehbaz Sharif had a "very large" role in the reported patch-up between the party and the establishment.
