Armenian Prime Minister Says To Visit Funeral Of Aznavour In France

YEREVAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd October, 2018) Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Tuesday that he would arrive in France to visit Saturday's funeral of French singer of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour.

Aznavour, 94, passed away in his house in the south of France on Sunday night.

"In line with Aznavour's last will, he will be buried in France near his parents. The memorial service will take place on Friday-Saturday. On late Thursday, I will leave for Paris and am likely to return to Yerevan on late Saturday after Aznavour's funeral," Pashinyan said.

On Monday, Pashinyan said that the day of the funeral of Aznavour would be declared a day of mourning in Armenia.

Aznavour was born in Paris in a family of Armenian immigrants. In his career spanning about 70 years, over 100 million of his records were sold. In 1999, the singer was named entertainer of the century in a poll by CNN and Times magazine.
