African countries are interested in Russia's experience in a large number of areas and the most promising sectors for cooperation include mining, civil aviation and railway infrastructure, Executive Vice President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) George Elombi told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st October, 2018) African countries are interested in Russia's experience in a large number of areas and the most promising sectors for cooperation include mining, civil aviation and railway infrastructure, Executive Vice President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) George Elombi told Sputnik.

"In a wide range of sectors: mineral sector, where Russia has already got tremendous expertise in terms of equipment; fertilizers; and railway infrastructure, where Russia has appetite in going into African countries. There is also agroindustry and financial services. Russian banks are interested in Africa in a way they were not before because they have to support Russian exporters. Also, there is civil aviation and mining," the bank's top manager said when asked what spheres were the most promising for bilateral cooperation.

Elombi added that all of those sectors offered great opportunities for the export of Russian goods.

"We would in particular be interested in Russian imports that in turn will support African exports, and in finding Russian markets for African exports," he said.

On Wednesday, Elombi took part in a meeting with the Russian Export Center, with the two sides discussing the preparations for the meeting of Afreximbank's shareholders, which is set to take place in Russia in 2019.
