US Military Refuses to Discuss Any Plans to Pull Patriot Missile Systems from Middle East

US Central Command has no comment on reports that the United States plans to withdraw four Patriot missile systems from Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, Lt. Col. Earl Brown told Sputnik on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th September, 2018) US Central Command has no comment on reports that the United States plans to withdraw four Patriot missile systems from Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, Lt. Col. Earl Brown told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"Due to operational security concerns, we're not going to discuss the movement of specific capabilities into and out of the US Central Command area of responsibility," Brown told Sputnik. "US Forces remain postured to conduct operations throughout the region and to respond to any contingency."

Earlier on Wednesday, US media, citing US military officials, reported that the Pentagon plans to remove US missile systems from the middle East next month.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the United States will remove two Patriot systems from Kuwait, one from Jordan and another from Bahrain next month.

But Kuwait's Army Chief of the General Staff said in a statement that the decision to withdraw the batteries was a "routine" one made in coordination with the Kuwaiti military.
