On Tuesday, The Daily Beast reported that US Senator Rand Paul, who had recently travelled to Russia, planned to introduce an amendment during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting on Wednesday that would lift sanctions against Russian lawmakers if Moscow eliminated its measures against US lawmakers.�
"We, as you know, have never persuaded anyone to come up with any initiatives on this matter, but we have always indicated that we consider sanctions against parliamentarians basically wrong, undemocratic," Kosachev said.
