Pope Francis To Hold Mass At Freedom Square In Tallinn On Tuesday - Catholic Church

TALLINN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Pope Francis will hold a mass at Freedom Square in Tallinn on Tuesday, which is expected to draw nearly 10,000 people from Estonia and other European nations and mark the end of the pontiff's visit to the Baltic region, the press service of the Estonian Catholic Church said.

Pope Francis has already visited Lithuania and Latvia, with Estonia being the last stop of his visit, which started on Saturday.

Pope Francis will also meet with Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid and cabinet ministers, as well as diplomatic corps, civil society and the local youth.

In the run-up to the visit, the country strengthened security control on the border, temporarily reintroducing identity checks. The central streets of the capital will be also closed.

Pope Francis will become the second pontiff to visit Estonia after Pope John Paul II, who paid a visit to the Baltic state in September 1993.

Estonia's catholic community is about 6,000 people, which is 0.5 percent of population.
