Magnitude 4.3 Quake Hits In Pacific Near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula - Geophysical Survey

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 24th September, 2018) KAMCHATSKY (Russia), September 24 (Sputnik) - A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean near Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on Monday, the Geophysical Survey of the Russian academy of Sciences (GS RAS) told Sputnik.

"A seismic event took place on Monday morning local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Pacific Ocean waters at the depth of over 40 kilometers [24.8 miles], 142 kilometers to the south of the locality of Ust-Kamchatsk on the eastern coast of the peninsula," the GS RAS spokesperson said.

According to the data of the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the tremors were not felt in local settlements.
