EU Leaders Agree to Enhance Fight Against Cybercrime, Misinformation - Tusk

EU leaders agreed at an informal EU meeting in Austria on Thursday to enhance fight against cybercrime and misinformation, European Council President Donald Tusk said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) EU leaders agreed at an informal EU meeting in Austria on Thursday to enhance fight against cybercrime and misinformation, European Council President Donald Tusk said.

"On internal security we agreed priorities for immediate action. That is why there is a short determination to take forward the commission's proposal [on corp of border guards] ... There are issues regarding sovereignty and the size of [EU border agency] Frontex, that will have to be further discussed. In addition, we agreed to step up the fight against all forms of cybercrime, manipulations and disinformation," Tusk said at a press conference.

Earlier in the day, the informal summit of the leaders of EU member states began in Salzburg hosted by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. The EU states' leaders are discussing issues related to internal security, including police and judiciary cooperation.
