Pompeo Discusses Croatian LNG Plan With Counterpart - US State Department

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th September, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his Croatian Counterpart, Former Minister Marija Pejcinovic Buric discussed Croatia's plan to build a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FRSU) for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) imports, the US Department of State said in a press release.

"Secretary Michael R. Pompeo met yesterday at the State Department with Croatian Foreign Minister Marija Pejcinovic Buric," the release said. "The two discussed a broad range of bilateral and regional issues, including Croatia's plans to build a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) imports that will improve energy security and diversity energy supplies throughout Central and Southeast Europe."

The LNG facility project on the island of Krk, developed by LNG Croatia LLC, is expected to be completed in 2019.

The two diplomats also discussed their countries' partnership and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to increasing defense spending for NATO.
