North Korea Submitted to Russia List of Goods for Boosting Bilateral Trade - Minister

Pyongyang has handed over to Moscow a list of goods that do not fall under UN sanctions, and therefore can be subject to North Korea-Russia export-import operations in order to step up bilateral trade, North Korean Minister of External Economic Relations Kim Yong Jae said on Thursday.

VLADIVOSTOK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th September, 2018) Pyongyang has handed over to Moscow a list of goods that do not fall under UN sanctions, and therefore can be subject to North Korea-Russia export-import operations in order to step up bilateral trade, North Korean Minister of External Economic Relations Kim Yong Jae said on Thursday.

"We could expand our relations, there are enough opportunities for this in the areas that are not related to the UN sanctions. Our most recent agreement concerned a list of possible import and export goods. We have submitted this list, which includes thousands of goods, to Russia. We are waiting for the response from the Primorsky Territory [authorities]," Kim said during his meeting with Andrei Tarasenko, the acting head of Russia's Primorsky Territory, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Russia.

The United Nations has introduced multiple sanctions against North Korea in response to its repeated missile launches and nuclear tests. The organization, in particular, has restricted oil exports to Pyongyang, banned imports of textile products from North Korea as well as the country's access to gas liquids. The sanctions also include measures on closer inspections of cargo ships coming in and out of North Korea.

The fourth EEF was held between Tuesday and Thursday on Russky Island in the Russian Far East city of Vladivostok. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is the general information partner of the forum.
